Vanashakti Foundation along with the Rotary clubs of Navi Mumbai, came together to clean up the mangroves at Sarsole Jetty to mark the International Day for Conservation of Mangrove. All the members together collected about 1,200 kgs of trash from this area. The trash blocks the breathing roots causing mangrove death. This tells the necessity to have more such clean up drives. The Mangrove protection is necessary for protecting the shoreline from damaging storms and hurricane winds, waves and floods.
